What is ariston?

Ariston is a volunteers club in Heriot Watt Malaysia aimed at helping children of underserved communities such as the indigenous kids from a local village and refugees in Bukit Bintang. Countless people yearn for a helping hand to reach out to them.

If not us, then who?

We should be the ones reach out to them. So come and join us, to make a difference in another person's life, we can guarantee that you won't regret it.

Tutoring program :

In this project, you get to

teach the indigenous kids

Maths, English, and Science.

But it is not just plain academics, you’ll get the chance to bond with the children and know more about their life circumstances.

One of our volunteers, Ken managed to build a strong bond with one of the kids named Muaz whom was from a family full problems, problems that should be  too much for a child to deal with.

By helping him, we have managed to change him,  a once shy and reserved kid is now happy, energetic and fun loving.

Project ABC:

ABC stands for

attitude, behaviour and culture.

This project aims to teach the little things in life such as teaching the kids how to show gratitude when given something.

This project also facilitates the making of new bonds between volunteers and the children where we started off as strangers and now we’re friends.

There is a saying that every little thing counts, so by using ABC to show the kids simple lessons, it helps to build up their overall character slowly but surely.

Through this project, we hope to one day see that change in the children.

Career Exploration:

Just as you might have deduced from the name of this project itself,

career exploration helps the children by showing them a

glimpse of what working like a grown up is like.

This helps the kids in when it comes deciding the type of job that they want to pursue in the future.

Through this activity, we can see the children’s excitement in role-playing jobs such as policemen, firefighters and many more other jobs.

Sky project:

Sky project is done in collaboration with the YTL foundation.

It aims to

inspire, develop and provide aid to the refugee kids.

This is the only project done in Bukit Bintang, whilst the rest are done in a local village.

Here you will get the chance to interact with the refugees which will show you yet another facet of life. Some of them were exiled from their own countries, not only do they lose their sense of belonging due to this but they are homesick and they miss their family members that they got separated from.

Despite their bleak situation, they do have big dreams such as to be a great leader when they grow up.

OUR eventS

January 2019 Orientation day:

We held an orientation day to foster team building and welcome the new members

of the club.

It was a day full of fun and games where we got the chance to bond and deal with fun challenges.

The games ranged from a scavenger hunt to a simulation of real life where we got to experience what managing a family was like.

At the end of the day, we got to know one another better

and it is without a doubt

one of the most memorable experiences in the club.

Chinese New Year celebration:

(19th February 2019)

The Chinese New Year vibe was still strong in the air. What’s a better way to celebrate it than to do so with your friends and your club.

In this event,

we had a few games

and also we got to share a

tray of togetherness to symbolise that everyone in Ariston

stands as one united force

in lending a helping hand to others.

We do these events to

create a greater sense of comradery

with our volunteers.

The relationships with our volunteers are just as important as the relationship that we have with the children.

Without our volunteers, none of our projects would have been possible. It is safe to say that the club would not be what it is without them.

We are very thankful to everyone that has played a role in helping Ariston change lives.
